The ISSE-USA was invited to St. Croix, USA Virgin Islands to conduct SSEHV workshops for teachers, counselors, nurses and other educational staff at the October 21, 2019 St. Croix Federation Of Teachers Conference. The Conference, entitled, “Educators Building the Pathway Towards a Career-Ready Future” was held at the St. Croix Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) Adolescent Life Skills High School. On separate days, the ISSE-USA was also invited to present the SSEHV workshop, “Who Am I?” in classrooms for 6 different groups of high school students which included aviation students and the Tuskegee Airmen’s youth group. A total of approximately 175 educational staff and high school students were served.
The educational staff were very enthused with the “SSEHV Introductory Workshop for Teachers” they attended. Some of their comments were:
“I am so grateful to have been touched by the power of SSEHV. I wasn’t even supposed to be in this session but got lost in the process and found my way home to love. As a parent I had the realization there are factors at play inside us that have the capacity to “love beyond borders’ when it comes to our children given as a teacher. And now recognizing we all do and are called to be innate goodness. Everything changed for me and I am ever grateful. Every teacher in this school needs to have this course!”
“This session opened me to another side of the human person, the side that we often overlook or perhaps are too busy to see. In the end, there was a burden lifted off me. I realized that I just need to do my part faithfully, show love and allow the world to be.”
“This workshop was very refreshing as a reminder of the work I have done, am doing, and aspire to continue to do. Also, a great reminder of how self-love is a cure all.”
“In this Intro SSEHV Workshop, I learned to get respect from my students I need to give respect. I also learned to reflect on the question “Who Am I?” I need to sit down and truly answer that question. In addition, I learned that it’s not all about the teacher. We need to consider the children that we serve. Overall, it’s about the culture we build and how it affects us in the classroom and beyond.”
“Sathya Sai Education in Human Values Workshop was very beneficial to me. I never asked myself, “Who Am I?” before today. This day I asked myself this question and truly answered it. It is a question I will keep deep inside me. I have learned numerous things in this SSEHV workshop. Thanks for coming to St Croix and presenting to us. I sure enjoyed the presentations. This is the first time I have even heard about SSEHV. So special.”
“I learned I need to focus on myself first, my peace, my well-being, my sense of self, before I can address anyone else’s. It reminded me to have a strong sense of self and validate myself. Once I feel secure in my worth, in who I am, nothing can put me down. My happiness will radiate to others.”
“I have learned so much on the SSEHV session. Learning about human values can and will help me to be a better person in classroom, home and around family and friends. The five human values stuck to me most and will be something I use for the rest of my life. I would love to learn more and get the training so the values live through me more deeply. Thank you and a job well done!”
“I am truly amazed how much this workshop has helped me really reflect on “who I am”. This workshop will help me try to meet the needs of my students in a more positive manner. I will share what I have learned from this SSEHV introduction with my administrators and colleagues as much as possible. Now I understand a lot more of what to do when my students display certain behaviors. These values represent a tool to focus on for solutions. I am so glad I made the decision to attend the workshop and look forward to more! Great job!”
“This is a course that is very much needed for both teachers and administrators. It reminded me to reflect on how to stay calm on a high level regardless of how stressful life is. SSEHV is a powerful source! One every person no matter the background deserves and needs access to! Thank you!”
During the visit the ISSE-USA was also invited to present the SSEHV workshop, “Who Am I?” in classrooms for the 6 different groups of high school students. The workshop explores and provokes thought on the how the 5 human values of Truth, Right Action, Peace, and Nonviolence are an innate part of every human being and how they can be manifested in every aspect of ones’ daily life. An SSEHV direct lesson is integrated into the workshop.
